MADURAI: The rarely witnesses a star cast of such a grand scale. Legendary directors - Bharathiraja, Balumahendra, the former's disciples K Bhagyaraj and R Parthiban, maestro Ilayaraja, music director G V Prakash, yesteryear heroines Radha, Radhika, national award winner Saranya and young directors Susindran and Sargunam - the list appears endless, all congregated in the city for the audio launch of Bharathiraja's new film. All these stalwarts of the Tamil cinema world came together on one stage on Sunday evening, making the audio release of the upcoming film Annakodyum Kodiveeranum (AKKV) a grand extravaganza. Perhaps, the most memorable moments were the emotional reunion of Bharathiraja and Ilayaraja, who had not paired for past several years despite giving greatest hits together.
'We both have two mothers. I consider Ilayaraja's mother Chinnathayi as my mother. Likewise, my mother Karuthamma is also Ilayaraja's mother,' an emotionally-charged Bharathiraja said as the huge crowd in the railway grounds that was roaring till then, went silent. 'We both are like the red blood and white blood cells in the same body,' Bharathiraja said, as Ilayaraja was seen visibly moved.
The both were also seated next to each other sharing lighter moments. It was Ilayaraja who released the audio of the film. G V Prakash, who had composed the music for the film prostrated in front of Ilayaraja and received his blessings.
He was more than overjoyed when Ilayaraja said that Prakash was a musical genius and would scale great heights. Almost all heroines introduced by Bharathiraja like Radha, Radhika, Saranya and Vadivukkarasi shared their experiences of working with the director.

Radha's daughter, Karthika, who plays the female lead in the film was also present. Bhagyaraj in his inimical style recounted the days he worked as an assistant to Bharathiraja.
'Fortunately, I did not receive any slaps from him,' he said as peels of laughter broke out in the audience. As the Tamil film lore goes, a highly temperamental Bharathiraja used to slap actors when they fail to deliver results.
